The UAE, according to official information, ranked third in the world not only in terms of living standards and trade, but also in terms of the effectiveness of government initiatives, leaving 64 countries behind.
Along with this, the UAE in the International Competitiveness Ranking 2021, which was compiled by the Institute for Management Development and published on June 18, 2021, occupies the third position in terms of the effectiveness of government management of the country and ninth place in terms of economic indicators. At the same time, the UAE ranks 28th in terms of infrastructure development, including not only healthcare and the environment, but also scientific, basic and technical infrastructure.
The Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the UAE ranked first among all countries in the world in twenty country development indicators. At the same time, the country became the first in the world in terms of the ability of the authorities to work in the new conditions and entered the TOP-10 countries in the world in terms of competitiveness.
DUBAI RESULTS VS COMPETITORS
In general, reports show that the emirate has grown in all key indicators and indicators of the calculation of foreign direct investment in comparison with the previous year. Estimated capital inflows from such investments exceeded $7.07 billion.
In 2021, the emirate was able to attract foreign direct investment to create 43 regional headquarters for large international corporations (HQ FDI projects).
On this dimension, Dubai ranked first in MENA and second in the world, behind only the traditional leader, Singapore. At the same time, the emirate overtook the performance of such cities as London and New York. Dubai also ranked third in terms of capital inflows to finance HQ FDI, which totaled $762 million according to fDi Markets.

But still, in terms of the number of “Greenfield” projects, Dubai was able to overtake Singapore. Last year, 50 such projects were recorded, which is a historic achievement for the emirate. In fact, the city sets a record in such projects for the second year in a row. In 2020, Dubai accounted for 2.1% of all Greenfield FDI projects around the world. In 2021, the share has grown to 2.8%.
